Tehran-Iran; Kurdish labor activist, has been Granted a furlough for one week

On Sunday, May 11, 2025, Morteza Sayedi, a labor activist from Kamyaran-Kurdistan, was granted a one week furlough from Evin Prison.


On Saturday, January 25, 2025, Mr. Sayedi was also granted furlough for one week and returned to Evin Prison on February 8, 2025, after the conclusion of his leave period.


On Tuesday, November 6, 2024, this labor activist was sent to Evin Prison to serve his sentence. Mr. Sayedi was convicted by the Second Branch of the Revolutionary Court in Shahriyar-Tehran, by the presiding Judge Bahram Panahi, on charges of “forming a group with the intent to undermine national security.” He was sentenced to two years in prison, accounting for prior detention, which was officially communicated to him on Saturday, June 22, 2024. According to Mr. Sayedi, this verdict was confirmed by the appellate court in the Tehran.


On Wednesday, April 25, 2023, a hearing was held addressing the charges against Morteza Sayedi was conducted in the Second Branch of the Revolutionary Court in Shahriyar-Tehran, attended by his attorney.


On Monday, May 8, 2022, Mr. Sayedi was temporarily released from Evin Prison after posting bail, pending the completion of legal proceedings. Morteza Sayedi was arrested on Friday, April 15, 2022, by the Iranian security forces along with several other labor activists.
