On July 13, 1989 in the heart of Europe, three prominent Kurdish political figures, Dr. Abdulrahman Qasemlo, Secretary General of the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan, Abdullah Qaderi Azar, and Fazil Rassoul were assassinated in Vienna by agents of the Islamic Republic of Iran during a formal, unarmed negotiation session. This act was not a random occurrence but rather part of a deliberate, state-orchestrated policy aimed at the extrajudicial elimination of political dissidents abroad. a strategy that has continued in various forms in subsequent decades.
We, the undersigned human rights organizations, commemorate the memory of these victims and call for urgent legal and international action to put an end to this cycle of impunity.
