Kurdistan/Iran; Kurdish kolbar killed, another seriously injured by iranian armed forces

On the morning of Tuesday, May 27, 2025, a young Kurdish kolbar (border porter). Kourosh Moradi was shot and killed by Iranian government forces in the mountainous border region of Mariwan. Another kolbar, Rezgar Watandoust, was severely injured during the same incident.

According to an informed source, Iranian border troops stationed at the “Zhalaneh” border outpost opened direct fire on the two kolbars without any prior warning.

The source added that Kourosh Moradi died instantly after being struck in the neck by a bullet fired by government forces.

Rezgar Watandoust, who sustained serious injuries, was transferred to Bu-Ali Hospital in Mariwan for medical treatment. He is married and the father of one child.

Both kolbars were residents of Sepidar, a village in “Sewlawa” County.
