Iranian security forces have arrested Seyed Jamal Taha-Kani-Sur(dorky), from Shino (Oshnoviyeh), for exactly 37 days due to their inability to access his daughter, Gohar Taha-Kani-Sur(Sorkh), and he remains in an ambiguity legal situation in the prison of in Shino (Oshnoviyeh). Gohar Taha-Kani-Sur was compelled to leave Iran for being pressured and prosecuted for participating in the Kurdish New Year festivities.

According to an informed source close to Kurdistan Human Rights Association-Geneva, Iranian security forces raided the residence of Seyed Jamal Taha-Kani-Sur, a Kurdish civilian from Shnu(Oshnoviyeh) on March 13, 2025, in the aim of arresting his daughter for alleged involvement in the Kurdish new year festivals. In the absence of his daughter the authorities brutally assaulted Mr. Taha-Kani-Sur and took him in custody. He has since remained in an indefinite and undisclosed detention status within the local prison.

The source further noted that during the initial days of his detention, Mr. Taha-Kani-Sur was subjected to severe torture at the Intelligence services detention facility in Shino (Oshnoviyeh) and was subsequently transferred to a hospital due to the deterioration of his health condition.

It has been emphasized by this source that his arrest was executed under the directive of Saeed Eghbaljou, the prosecutor of Shino (Oshnoviyeh), and despite being held captive for more than a month, he continues to be in unjustified detention.

Reports indicate that Gohar Taha-Kani-Sur, Seyed Jamal's daughter, faced legal prosecution following the obstruction of the New Year celebrations in Shino (Oshnoviyeh) and has consequently been forced to exit the country.

Ms. Taha-Kani-Sur had been summoned to the first branch of the revolutionary prosecutor's office in Shino (Oshnoviyeh) on charges of “defiance against law enforcement and disturbing public order.” After security forces were unable to reach or apprehend her, they opted to detain her father instead.
