Kurdistan/Iran; Environmental activist sentenced to one year suspended imprisonment and monetary fine by iranian judiciary

Zhiyan (Mokrat) Miri, an environmental activist from the village of Tangisar in the Sine county, has been sentenced by Branch 1 of the Revolutionary Court in Sine(Sanandaj) to one year of suspended imprisonment and a fine of 50 million Iranian tomans.
According to an informed source, the court accused Mr. Miri of “connection with a Kurdish opposition party.”
On Thursday, January 16, 2025, Mr. Miri was temporarily released from Sanandaj Prison after posting bail set at 500 million tomans.
Earlier, on Saturday, January 11, 2025, was arrested without a judicial warrant by security forces in the Mesnaw neighborhood of Sanandaj and transferred to the Intelligence Department’s detention center for interrogation.
In recent years, Mr. Miri has been repeatedly summoned and detained in connection with his environmental activism.
