Kurdistan: A prominent Kurdish “Mamosta” (cleric) has been once again summoned to the special clergy court in Hamadan

Mamosta Luqman Amini, the “Friday prayer Imam” of the “Chuar-yar-nabi”(Chaharyaranbi) mosque in Sanandaj, has been summoned once again to the Special Clergy Court in Hamedan.
Mamosta Luqman is required to appear in court on Monday, April 21, 2025, as stipulated in the summons he has received.
In June 2024, Mamosta Luqman Amini was sentenced to 11 years of punitive imprisonment, two years of exile to Ardabil, permanent deposition of vestment, and prohibited from delivering Friday sermons on charges of "propagating against the regime on behalf of one of the Kurdish opposition parties, possession of a handgun, incitement to riot and unrest, and support for the people during the “Jin, Jiyan, Azadi” uprising.
On Tuesday, January 30, 2023, Mamosta Luqman Amini was arrested by Iranian security forces on the road to Mariwan(Marivan) for his support of the “Jin, Jiyan, Azadi” revolutionary uprising without a judicial warrant. He was temporarily released from detention on Wednesday, February 22, 2023, upon the posting of bail, pending the conclusion of legal proceedings.
