Kurdistan/Iran; Cultural and Kurdish literacy activist has been summoned to appear at prison in Sine (Sanandaj) to serve her sentence

Sirwe Pourmohammadi, a Kurdish female cultural and literary activist and a member of the “Nojin” a social and cultural NGO, has been summoned to appear at the women ward of the central prison in Sanandaj to serve the imposed sentence by judiciary of the Islamic republic of Iran.
On April 8, 2025, Sirwe PourMohammadi received a court summons regarding the enforcement of her prison sentence, and she is required to report to the prison to begin serving her sentence.
The initial sentence of ten years of imprisonment for Sirwe PourMohammadi was reduced to five years by the Court of Appeals, and this ruling was communicated to Ms. PourMohammadi's attorneys on Tuesday, November 26, 2024.
Initially, she was sentenced to ten years of imprisonment without parole by the First Branch of the Revolutionary Court in Sanandaj, presided by Judge Karami, on charges of "forming groups to disrupt national security." This sentence was communicated to Ms. PourMohammadi on Friday, October 26, 2023, through her attorneys, Dr. Jwamer Abdollahi and Hemen Majidi.
On Monday, February 13, 2023, Sirwe PourMohammadi was temporarily released from the Correction and Rehabilitation Center in Sanandaj upon posting bail, pending the conclusion of legal proceedings.
On Sunday, February 2, 2023, while seeking information regarding the status other detained members of the “Nojin” at the Revolutionary Court in Sanandaj, Ms. PourMohammadi was arrested by Iranian security forces.
