In the early hours of Wednesday, May 14, 2025, the death penalty for a Kurdish prisoner, Moshir Osmandzadeh, previously sentenced to death for “premeditated murder”, was carried out at Wirmê (Urmia) Central Prison.

On Monday, May 12, Osmandzadeh had been transferred from Ward 4 of Wirmê (Urmia) Central Prison to solitary confinement in preparation for implementing his death sentence.

Osmandzadeh, a Kurdish prisoner, had been arrested approximately four years ago on charges of premeditated murder and subsequently sentenced to death by the Iranian judiciary.

He was the son of Taher (also known as Fariq) and a native of Wirmê (Urmia).
